A. Building permits.

- Residential one and two family: five cents ($0.05) per square foot.
- Residential additions: five cents ($0.05) per square foot.
- Storage sheds: twelve by twelve (12 x 12) feet or smaller: five dollars ($5.).
- Swimming pools, garages, storage sheds larger than twelve by twelve (12 x 12)feet, etc.: thirty dollars ($30).
Pool permits require to following:
-Location of pool with setback dimensions to all
property lines - liquid capacity in gallons - method of filling and
draining. Type and size of filter system - estimated cost of the pool.
All pools need proof an electrical inspector has approved the
installation.
- Multiple families: five cents ($0.05) per square foot.
- Commercial, industrial, and new construction: five cents ($0.05) per square foot.
- Change of use and occupancy: two cents ($0.02) per square foot.
- Energy Audit is required for new construction.

B. Sign permits: twenty dollars ($20).
C. Planning Board
(1) Application fee: twenty-five dollars ($25.) minimum.
(2) Site plan rev - Re-occupancy: fifteen dollars ($15.) per required parking space.
One-third (1/3) payable with building permit.
One-third (1/3) payable with final construction approval.
(3) Subdivision review. One- and two-family projects: fifty dollars ($50) per lot or unit.
The Town of Chenango, the "municipality," has
hereby determined that the municipality shall recover the cost of any
additional engineering review required on applications submitted to the
municipality. The costs collected are desirable, enhance the health and
welfare and are in the public interest of the Town of Chenango.
D. Zoning Board of Appeals.
(1) Application fee: fifty dollars ($50).
(2) Special meetings of either the Planning Board or the Zoning Board of Appeals:
- New construction: thirty dollars ($30) per required parking space.
One-third (1/3) payable with application.

E. Town Board: change of zone.
- Petition fee: publication and filing fees to be paid by applicant.
F. Publications.
- Zoning Ordinance: twenty dollars ($20).
- Public Works Specifications: twenty dollars ($20).

- Subdivision Regulations: ten dollars ($10).

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When do I need a building permit?
A building permit is required for all structures, alterations and
demolitions, this includes but is not limited to: new construction,
alterations, placement of new structures, movement of existing
buildings, storage structures for all hazardous materials, conversions,
occupancy changes, electrical alterations, heating systems, gas
appliances for heating or decorative use, solid fuel burning appliances,
chimney or flue additions or alterations, structural alterations,
changes to fire safety and/or life safety features. If in doubt, contact
Ordinance Office.
When do I need a sign permit?
A sign permit is required for all signs.
How long does it take to acquire a building permit?
Minimum review time is two weeks for commercial
work, multiple dwellings, one and two family homes, additions,
alterations and conversions, review time for smaller projects i.e.
decks, pools, sheds etc., depends on timely submittal and quality of
plans submitted.
What is required for a building permit?
Building plans prepared and
stamped by a professional architect or engineer, licensed in this state per NYS
education Law. Building plans are required for all major construction projects.
Acceptance of plans for any project is determined by quality of submitted
documents. Contact Ordinance office if in doubt. No review shall proceed if any
of the requested items is omitted or incompletely submitted. The registered
design professional shall sign and seal their design. No work shall proceed
until the building permit is approved.

11) All water and sewer hook ups shall be
inspected and approved by the Town’s water dept. before backfill.
Inspections:
Construction or work for which a permit is
required shall be subject to inspection by the code enforcement official.
Required approvals. Work shall not be done beyond the point
indicated in each successive inspection without first obtaining the approval of
the code enforcement official. The code enforcement official,
upon notification, shall make the requested inspections and shall either
indicate the portion of the construction that is satisfactory as completed, or
notify the permit holder or his or her agent wherein the same fails to comply
with this code. Any portions that do not comply shall be corrected and such
portion shall not be covered or concealed until authorized by the code enforcement
official..
Approved inspection agencies. The code enforcement official is authorized
to accept reports of approved inspection agencies, provided such agencies
satisfy the requirements as to qualifications and reliability.
Inspection requests. It shall be the duty of the holder of the permit or their duly
authorized agent to notify the code enforcement official when
work is ready for inspection. It shall be the duty of the permit holder to
provide access to and means for inspections of such work that are required by
this code.
Reinspection and testing. Where any work or installation does not pass an initial test or
inspection, the necessary corrections shall be made so as to achieve compliance
with the code. The work or installation shall then be resubmitted to the
code enforcement official for approval by inspection and testing.
Reinspection. A building shall be re-inspected when
determined necessary by the code enforcement official.
Final inspection. The building shall have a final inspection and not be occupied until
approved.
Suspension and/or revocation. The code enforcement official is
authorized to suspend and/or revoke a notice of approval in writing which was
issued under the provisions of this code wherever the certificate is issued in
error, or on the basis of incorrect information supplied, or where it is
determined that the building or structure, premise, or portion thereof is in
violation of any ordinance or regulation or any of the provisions of this code.

- Pre-Cladding- all holes and gaps sealed with complete air
barrier cover
- Rough
plumbing- completely
installed with underneath bedding and exposed BOTH DRAIN & WATER LINES. -

underground)
- Below
grade plumbing- cast or PVC,
must be sleeved, bedding material
